Carla Pike , JD/MA, MBAExecutive Director
Carla Pike is the Executive Director of Vantage Pointe and Vice President of the Mediation Network of North Carolina. She has worked in the conflict resolution/restorative justice field and the non-profit sector for over a decade. Carla has taught mediation and conflict management skills to people of all ages and backgrounds in both the private and public sectors. Her broad range of experience includes work in higher education and asylum and human rights advocacy. Carla also served a term of AmeriCorps/Public Allies service. Carla earned a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts from Peace College, a joint Juris Doctor and Master of Arts degree in International Affairs at American University, and an MBA at Pfeiffer University.
Matthew OelslagerAssistant Director
Matthew Oelslager joined Vantage Pointe as the Assistant Director after nearly 15 years in the mental health field, during which time he served clients and their families, worked in suicide intervention, crisis de-escalation and program development. He has worked with several non-profit organizations in the Cape Fear Region providing facilitation and training, during which time he trained over 1500 first responders and community members. Matthew holds a Bachelor of Arts degree with honors in Writing and Literature/Criminal Justice from St. Cloud State University.
Rick holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Virginia, a Master of Arts in Education from the University of Connecticut, and a Master of Arts in Liberal Studies from Wesleyan University. He has over 20 years of experience as a New England boarding school educator and administrator. As a school administrator, Rick facilitated challenging conversations between community members, including families and school officials. Rick coordinates the New Hanover County Teen Court Program. He also assists with facilitating Child and Family Team meetings.
Jasmine coordinates Medicaid Appeals mediation, as well as Child and Family Team Meetings for both New Hanover and Brunswick County. A native of Columbus County, Jasmine previously worked in the hospitality industry. Her customer service experience serves her well in providing friendly, quality service to diverse clients. Jasmine holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Resource Management from the University of Mount Olive.
Kiara is a native of Raleigh and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She has a background in non-profits and customer service. Kiara currently is completing her Master of Arts in Public Administration at UNCW. She coordinates the Pender County Teen Court Program and assists with grant management for New Hanover County Teen Court.
Pat has a Bachelor’s degree from Nazareth College and a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Syracuse University. She gained valuable experience working with people during the 35 years she was employed in the mental health system working with children and families. After relocating to North Carolina in 2007, Pat worked for the Department of Social Services in Brunswick and New Hanover Counties. She has a wealth of experience helping families work through complex situations. Pat is a part-time facilitator for Child and Family Team meetings with Vantage Pointe.
Thomas started working with Vantage Pointe as an Administrative Assistant and moved into a full-time position after completing his training. His experience teaching English as a Foreign Language abroad provided him with an appreciation for diverse cultures. He currently facilitates Child Family Team Meetings and teaches Constructive Communication.
Sasha joined Vantage Pointe as a volunteer and later became a full-time facilitator. Her recent work with Horry County Schools in the area of behavior intervention gave her an opportunity to work with children and adults on conflict resolution. She has experience working for large organizations in the area of communications as well. Sasha is trained as both a facilitator and a mediator. She is a graduate of N.C. Central University with a bachelor’s degree in History and Communications.
