Cheryl joined the board of Vantage Pointe in April 2017. She is the HR Director for Wells Insurance with over 20 years of experience in the human resources field. Cheryl holds both her SPHR and her SHRM-SCP certifications and has worked in both the private and public sectors. She also serves on the board of the Lower Cape Fear Human Resource Association and the NC SHRM State Council. Her past volunteer experience includes serving on the board of the United Way of Craven County, and as a Guardian ad Litem in New Hanover County; Cheryl has also volunteered with the Food Bank of Central & Eastern NC, the Good Shepherd House, Domestic Violence Shelter and Services, Inc., and Cape Fear Academy.
Michael PalomboVice Chair
Michael joined the Board of Vantage Pointe in November of 2017. He is an Attorney at Moree Law, PLLC where he leads the Business and Estate Planning practice groups. His law practice encompasses entity selection and formation, business planning, mergers & acquisitions, contracts, estate planning, and business succession planning. He holds an AB in Psychology and Philosophy from Elon University and a Juris Doctor from Campbell University. A resident of Wilmington, Michael is excited to serve his community through his involvement with Vantage Pointe.
Avery joined the board of Vantage Pointe in December of 2018. She graduated from University of North Carolina Wilmington with a degree in Business Management and Leadership. Avery is currently a Servicing Analyst on the Energy and Environmental Lending Team at Live Oak Bank. During her career she has worked with small business owners and large scale solar developers throughout the United States. In her younger years, Avery volunteered with Pender County Teen Court which developed her passion for Vantage Pointe and giving back to her community.
“I initially joined the board of Vantage Pointe because of my prior involvement in the Junior League of Sarasota, which started Teen Court in Sarasota County. I knew how important Teen Court was to any community. Since then, I doubled down my commitment to the organization because I learned how important a third party mediator can be to any tough conversation. Vantage Pointe is an unsung hero in this community.”
Melissa joined the board of Vantage Pointe in April 2017. She is a Senior Loan Officer with the renewable energy team at Live Oak Bank. Melissa joined Live Oak in 2013 as a Special Assets Officer after 15 years of varied commercial credit positions with community and regional banks in North Carolina and Florida. Her experience includes commercial lending, portfolio management, underwriting, special assets, and training and loan Documentation. Melissa has volunteered with a number of organizations over the last twenty years, serving on the boards of The Junior League of Sarasota and The Junior League of Winston-Salem. Locally, she volunteers with Junior Achievement, Food Bank of Central & Eastern NC, Junior League of Wilmington, Habitat for Humanity, YMCA of Southeastern NC, and Girls Leadership Academy of Wilmington. Melissa has a B.S. in Business Administration from UNC at Chapel Hill.
Leslie joined the board of Vantage Pointe in January 2019. She is a Liberty University graduate with a Master of Arts in Professional Counseling. Leslie is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist (LCAS). Currently she is a practicing Licensed Clinical Therapist with New Hanover County Public Health, School Mental Health. During her career, Leslie has worked as an advocate for abused and neglected children, as a practitioner helping women find recovery from addiction, and assisting adolescents with mental health. Her passion for helping others achieve their desired change is the driving force behind her joining the Vantage Pointe board.
